The Michaelmas Term has begun in truly historic fashion at The King's School, with students, staff and the wider school community celebrating the launch of Newton 300, marking three hundred years since the death of our most famous former pupil, Sir Isaac Newton.
A particular highlight of the term was the visit of Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, who officially launched the Newton 300 celebrations during a memorable visit to Grantham. The visit provided a fitting start to a landmark year of events, activities and reflection on Newton's extraordinary legacy and the enduring connection between one of history's greatest scientific minds and his former school.
Beyond the celebrations, students have enjoyed another busy and successful term. Educational visits and fieldwork have taken pupils beyond the classroom, from Year 7's environmental studies at Rutland Water to Sixth Form geographers exploring the dramatic coastline at Holderness. Year 13 Religious Studies students also visited the University of Nottingham for a study day, experiencing university-level discussion and debate.
Academic success has continued across the School. Year 12 chemists achieved outstanding results in the prestigious Cambridge Chemistry Challenge, while our linguists enjoyed success in the University of Nottingham's poetry competition, with Noah Fraser being named the overall winner. Students have also embraced numerous enrichment opportunities through the launch of eighteen Sixth Form societies, helping to foster leadership, curiosity and collaboration.
Sport, music, drama, debating, the Combined Cadet Force and many other co-curricular activities have continued to play a central role in School life, ensuring pupils benefit from a broad and balanced educational experience.
The strength of the King's community has also been evident throughout the term. The PTFA Autumn Ball was a tremendous success, and alongside the many events and initiatives organised throughout the year, continues to make a significant contribution to enhancing opportunities for pupils.
The Michaelmas Term has perfectly demonstrated the ambition, curiosity and sense of community that define King's.
